... and the stars... and the moon... but that would be too long of a title XD

This is a print I did for my art class. I hadn't worked with linoleum tile carving/printing since Break Away, so I decided it was time to make something new~

I wanted to do something more simple than my last print; after all, its insanely hard to carve out facial features and such. So, having just got back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans, I decided to take a cue from one of the Krewes (Rex and its "Magical World of How and Why" themed parade) and base my design off of some kind of creation myth. After much searching, I came across one of my favorite Native American fables, Raven Brings the Light.

The one I've linked you to is different from the one I read that inspired this piece, but the message still gets across lol

The simplicity is what makes it-lovely print!

It might sound a bit crazy but I had a dream of this image years ago, except it was coloured. When i woke up, i tried to draw it, but was unable-your print is the closet thing to it i have seen in real life :)

That is really interesting! If you'd like, I can try to color it the way you dreamed it~ It would have to be done digitally, but I think I can manage if you want :3

Hi, Thanks so much , how sweet of you, at least you didn't think i was mad! ha ha

I'd love to see a coloured version, though im sure it would be time consuming for you, and i don't want to put you out.

When i had the dream it was more of a vision, hovering in my eyes with the lids closed, like when you look at a bright light and then shut your eyes , you get a kinda of flourescent green red and yellow effect its hard to know how to replicate it.

You've inspired me to have a go perhaps Ill do a different version or something, but If you do a coloured one i would love to see it :)

Thanks again you turned a dream into reality, a real artists gift!

lol trust me, I've heard crazier things~ (some of them from my own mouth XD)

That's interesting, I think I sort of understand how the colors work from your description, as in the way they interact with the darker areas. However, the specific places in which each color ends up is still a mystery to me. I do understand that its hard to explain, though XD those kinds of "eyelid images", if you will, can be a bit tricky to describe.
